Ikanoon currently offers a number of services under Premium Member Services and will continue to add new services with existing charges or additional charges. It currently offers the NoteIK Service, the Query Alert Service, Download Court Copy and the set of GenAI tools called Prism to the Premium Members.
The NoteIK service allow users to highlight sections of law and court judgments and annotate them same with their own comments as they use the website. The marked sections along with notes and annotations may be added to any research topic in future. The Legal Research Service allows creation of topics and each research topic can have any number of sub-topics. The Legal Research Service also allows Premium Members to collaborate with other members. The Legal Research Service can be used from any computing devices through most web browser. The Premium Members will not be shown any advertisements on the website once they log in.
The Query Alert Service allows Premium Members to be notified of any new legal document matching their query that is added to the IKanoon database. The Premium Members can create alert for any search query and then they would be notified as and when any new legal document matching their query is added to the database. The Premium Members will be notified through email or any possible communication medium that Ikanoon decides to be appropriate. The Premium Tier Member can set at most 25 Query Alerts and the Pro Tier Member can set at most 100 Query Alerts.
The Download Court Copy feature allows a signed up user to retrieve original court documents directly onto their devices. This feature is available free of cost for all court documents present on the Ikanoon database with a limit set at 25 court copies per month for those without valid subscription, 250 documents per month for those with Premium subscribtion and 1000 documents per month for those with Pro subscribtion. The download limits are subject to Ikanoon discretion and can be changed as per the technical limits.
Prism (GenAI Tool) is a generative artificial intelligence tool integrated into the Premium Member Services, designed to assist users by generating text, summaries, and legal insights based on user input and available data within the Indian Kanoon database. This tool leverages large language models (LLMs) to provide an enhanced research experience.
IKanoon will charge for Premium Member Services in a pre-paid mode. Premium Members can pre-pay for the services for a designated period and can avail the services for that time. They can recharge their account by paying money to IKanoon and extend their subscription. The validity of their subscription extends for the specified period. In case the Premium Member does not recharge their account, the account will become inactive and the services cannot be availed anymore.
IKanoon reserves the right to increase or decrease the price of services. Members shall be notified of any changes in subscription prices a month before such change comes into effect. The notification shall be conveyed either through an email sent to the user’s registered email address or through a general notice on the website.
If you have recharged your account towards Premium Member Services and you are not satisified for any reason, you can get a full refund of the entire amount by writing an email to [email protected] with in 48 hours from the purchase time.
Refund will be processed with in 7 days.
Service Availability: IKanoon will take the best efforts in providing highly available Premium Services. But due to unforeseen circumstances the service may go down. IKanoon will not be liable for any loss of availability of the service.
Ikanoon will strive to provide a reliable Query Alert Service that will send alerts once a day if there are matches to the alerts that are set up by the Premium Member. The queries which have too many matches daily may not be evaluated on all documents and IKanoon reserves the right to decide it. A user can set up to a maximum of twenty query alerts. If due to any technical issue or the other, IKanoon fails to send out alerts it will not be held liable. Ikanoon will strive to fix the issue as soon as possible once the issue is brought into notice. Also if due to some technical issue or the other, a user gets multiple or duplicate alerts then Ikanoon will not be held liable. Ikanoon will strive to fix the issue as soon as possible once the issue is brought into notice.
No Account Sharing: Ikanoon grants "Premium Member" a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access the "Premium Member Services". The "Premium Member Services" are for individual use only and the "Premium Member" agrees not to share account details with anyone else. IKanoon reserves the right to enforce non-compliance in any way possible, which may include termination of the account as well.
Data Security and Availability: IKanoon strives to follow the highest industry protocols in ensuring the security of the data of the users. The data entered by the Premium members would be replicated on multiple servers to ensure that the data is not lost. All the data will also be routinely backed up following industry protocols. IKanoon shall ensure that it updates all known security vulnerabilities on a fortnightly basis.
In the event of the breach of the security through hacking or any other means IKanoon shall follow all due diligence to retrieve the data of the users. After the application of due diligence if IKanoon is unable to retrieve the data of users, IKanoon shall not be liable responsible for any data loss or possible mis-use of the data.
Privacy and Data Usage: IKanoon reserves the right to use your picture and other details like name, occupation and location to help other Premium Members to find you. IKanoon will also be free to use your legal mark-ups in court judgments to enhance their reading and your email address for contacting you regarding our services. Your research notes and drafts would be shared with general public or other Premium Members as per your privacy settings. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have set the privacy settings as you want it to be.
By agreeing to this terms and conditions, you also agree to our Privacy Policy for the usage and sharing of Personal Data, NoteIK data, Query Alert Data, Prism Session Data and the Usage Data
Liability Limitations: Premium Members understand that any data provided by IKanoon are sourced through public websites including but not limited to decisions, statutes, orders and notifications made available through government websites. All the service and the data provided by IKanoon are provided "AS IS," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, about the warranty of accuracy, reliability or fitness for a particular purpose, and IKanoon shall not be liable for any claim, damages or other liability, whether in action of contract, tort or otherwise, arising from, out of or in connection with the use of the data or service.
IKanoon disclaims all warranties and representations (whether express or implied) as to the accuracy of any information contained on the website or posted. We do not guarantee that such information will be fault free and do not accept liability for any errors or omissions. In no event shall IKanoon be liable for any loss of profit, revenues, goodwill, opportunity, business, anticipated savings or other indirect or consequential loss of any kind in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise arising out of use of either the websites or information posted in the website. The user acknowledges that use of the data requires the subscriber to use of its own skill and judgment. All members warrant that they have all the necessary skill and judgment required to understand the information and material available on the websites or posted to them, and undertake at all times to exercise their own judgment in the use of such information and shall be solely liable for all decision, opinions, recommendations, forecasts or comments made or any action taken in reliance on such information.
Specific No Liability for PRISM (GenAI Tool): YOU EXPRESSLY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT YOUR USE OF PRISM (GENAI TOOL) IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. The outputs generated by Prism (GenAI Tool) are based on complex algorithmic models and publicly available data. IKanoon does not warrant that the results obtained from the use of IK Prism (GenAI Tool) will be accurate, reliable, complete, or free from "hallucinations" (instances where the AI generates plausible but incorrect or fabricated information).
PRISM IS INTENDED FOR INFORMATIONAL AND ASSISTIVE PURPOSES ONLY AND DOES NOT CONSTITUTE LEGAL ADVICE. You acknowledge that the information provided by IK Prism (GenAI Tool) is not a substitute for professional legal counsel, comprehensive legal research, or independent judgment. It is your sole responsibility to critically evaluate, verify, and confirm the accuracy and applicability of any information or output generated by IK Prism (GenAI Tool) before relying upon it or taking any action.
IKanoon shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or harm arising from your reliance on, or use of, any information or output generated by IK Prism (GenAI Tool), including but not limited to, errors, omissions, inaccuracies, or "hallucinations" within the generated content. This includes, without limitation, direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly.
In no event shall IKanoon be liable for any loss of profit, revenues, goodwill, opportunity, business, anticipated savings or other indirect or consequential loss of any kind in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise arising out of use of either the websites or information posted in the website. The user acknowledges that use of the data requires the subscriber to use of its own skill and judgment. IKanoon reserves the absolute right, which it may or may not exercise, to review, edit, or delete any material that it deems to be inappropriate or in violation of these terms and conditions. It further has the absolute right, in its sole discretion, to deny or to withdraw access to anyone who violates these terms and conditions.
This agreement shall be valid until and unless terminated by any one of the party. Either party can terminate the agreement at will by notifying other through registered email or phone at least one month in advance.
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. The Parties hereby agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the competent Courts at Bangalore.
The Parties agree that any and all disputes arising out of or in connection with or in relation to this agreement shall be attempted to be settled amicably failing which it shall be referred to Arbitration to be conducted as per the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The arbitrator shall be jointly appointed by the parties. The venue of Arbitration shall be Bangalore.
The parties agree that any failure or omission by any party to carry out or observe any of the terms or conditions of this Agreement as a result of or arising from any extraneous cause entirely beyond the control of that party, shall not be subject to any claims for damages, termination or performance by the other party.
Neither Party shall assign or agree to assign this Agreement in whole or in part, including any assignment to an Affiliate or Associate, without the prior written consent of the other Party, which consent shall not be unreasonably withheld.
